Knox- Adel R. Agnew passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center at age 94. Adel was born on May 8, 1920 in Waterbury, CT. On November 18, 1937, she married Alfred W. Agnew in West Point, NY. In 1947 they bought a dairy farm on Craven Rd in Knox, NY, where they raised six children and lived the majority of their lives.
Adel is predeceased by her loving husband Alfred of thirty-seven years and her brother Amie. She is survived by her children; Alfred Agnew of Lake City, FL, Thomas Agnew and his wife Freda of Palmdale, CA, Lee Martin and Mike Hammond of Knox, NY, Linda Wigger and her husband Richard of Savannah, GA, Christopher Agnew of Sharon Springs, NY and Scott Agnew of Knox, NY. In addition, she leaves thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She loved reading romance novels, knitting for her children and grandchildren, and traveling. She enjoyed traveling to Maine and Connecticut with her son Scott and visiting her son Tom and his wife Freda in California. At the age of 75, she made her first trip overseas, traveling to Tokyo, Japan to visit her daughter Linda and her family. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting Port Henry, NY and spending summer evenings on the porch with Lee and Mike. Her family will miss her dearly, but know she will be at peace, as she is reunited with her late husband.
Calling hour will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 5-8PM with a funeral service at 7:30PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St. Altamont, NY.
