Anna L. Franklin

Schenectady- Anna L. Franklin, 91, died on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. She was born on June 27, 1925, the daughter of Anna and George Beals in North Adams, MA. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Franklin, their son David, their daughter Janice Opal, and her brothers, Francis and Jerry Beals. Anna is survived by her sons, James (Theresa) Franklin and Robert (Mary Jo) Franklin, her son-in-law Jeffrey Opal, and her brother Arthur Beals. She is also survived by five grandchildren: James Franklin, Jr., Stephanie Brasel, Kristina Tomek, Sean Franklin, Erik Franklin, as well as five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Anna and Walter raised their family in Colonie, NY and spent many summers at Great Sacandaga Lake, later retiring to a country home in the town of Florida, NY. They traveled extensively and were both active in the VFW post in Altamont until his death in 2007. Anna lived most recently in Schenectady, NY, where she enjoyed her last several years with her closest friend and companion, Lloyd Ruch. Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont, NY. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday July 11,2016 at 10:00am. Burial services will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 PM on Monday, July 11, 2016, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband and son.
