Arthur J. Armstrong

Altamont - Arthur James Armstrong, 88, died on Sunday April 24, 2011 unexpectedly at home. He was a lifelong resident of Altamont, born on September 3, 1922 in the family farm house on Dunnsville Rd. He was a retired self employed paper hanger. His life interests were roller skating at the Rollarama and golfing at Whispering Pines Golf course with his girls. Arthur is survived by five children, Heidi (Gene) Whelan of Athens, GA, Arn Armstrong (Maria Musto) of Guilderland, Bambi (Bill) Swift of Richland WA, Shawn Armstrong of Altamont, Shayn (Karen) Armstrong of Lake Placid; 11 grandchildren Nathan (Cari) Morgan, Erien (Bill) Gordon, Danny, Philippa, and Brooke Armstrong, Austin and Dustin Whelan, Jacqueline and Katherine Swift, Nina and Gabriella Armstrong; 4 great grandchildren, Emma, Summer, Rose and Elle Gordon. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his son Mark and his daughter Sandra. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at St John's Lutheran Church, Maple Ave, Altamont.
