Barbara J. Pollock

Knox - Barbara J. Pollock, 88, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. Born on May 27, 1921 in Messina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah Patrie. She was a 1939, graduate of Cathedral Academy; following graduation she entered the Albany School of Practical Nursing. She worked for a short time at the Brady Maternity Hospital. She then went to work in pediatrics at Albany Medical Center. She retired from nursing after working for 30 years at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. She was a 30 year member of the Jolly Mixed Bowling League in Altamont. Barbara had an innate sense of caring, which she passed on to many people. She was an intricate part of her grandchildren's lives. She is survived by a son Charles (Vickie) Pollock Jr.; a daughter Elaine Martin; six grandchildren, Charles "Chip" Pollock III, Jamie Pollock, Krissy Williams, George (Jen) Martin Jr., Chad (Stacey) Martin, and Scott (Mary Carrillo); eleven great grandchildren, Quinn Pollock, Catherine Hawes, Maddox King, Zachary Lonergan, Zachary, Tyler, Ryan, Noah, Hailey, Nathan, Alea Martin; special family members, Melody Pollock, Deb Reynolds, Barb Henderson, and Noel Hatley. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Charles Pollock Sr., her son-in-law George K. Martin Sr., two brothers Frederick and James Patrie. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Altamont Rescue Squad 767 Route 146 Altamont, NY 12009.
