GILBOA - Brittany Emerald Paes, 12, of Gilboa, NY, beloved daughter of Julie Meeghan Paes and Michael Paes passed away on Wednesday, June 13. Brittany was an athletic, joyful girl and compassionate friend, who will be greatly missed.
Brittany was born on October 25, 1999 in Oneonta, NY. She lived her entire life in Gilboa where she attended Gilboa-Conesville Central School. Brittany was an accomplished athlete and was a member of the Gilboa Modified Soccer and Basketball teams. She also played soccer on Gilboa's indoor team, the Catskill Mountain Summer League in Windham, Valley Soccer in Cobleskill, and Gilboa Youth Soccer. Brittany was involved in many other school activities including chorus and band, where she played the clarinet. She was a member of the Drama Club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Brittany was not afraid to get dirty and loved being outdoors and working on cars with her father. They frequently attended car shows together. A passionate animal lover, Brittany was proud to rescue animals in need. She had many pets including her Chihuahua, Chili, her chinchillas, Kiki and LuLu and her gerbil, Foster.
Brittany was a good friend to all and a bright, hardworking student. She was well liked by her teachers and schoolmates, who appreciated her witty sense of humor. Cherished by her family, Brittany loved to spend summers with her grandparents in Tennessee and travel to Florida.
In addition to her parents, Brittany is survived by her sister, Destiny; grandparents Alda and Joseph Meeghan, and Diane and Dennis Muthig, and the late Joao Paes; aunts Lisa (Ken) Dover and Terri (Bob) Jordan; uncles Tucker Meeghan and Joao (Linda) Paes; cousins Wyatt and Logan Dover, Garrick Jordan, and Josh Paes; and godparents Dale Mercure, Jr. and Becky Hoyt.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, June 17 at Decker Funeral Home in Windham.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am on Monday, June 18 at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford.
