Windham- Christopher Leland Garraghan, son of John & Phoebe Garraghan, passed away peacefully on March 4th at the age of 71. Chris was born and raised in Windham, NY. His family grew up on South Street-their home address for many years located smack dab in the middle of the golf course. Chris was known for his early morning cup of coffee with the locals and his endless gift of gab. He worked in construction for many years before moving on to a life where he woke up to fresh dew on the grass, birds chirping and deer wandering about as he mowed fairways every day on the Christmans Windham House Golf Course that he called home. If you had the pleasure to run into him on one of these days while golfing, you were fortunate to hear a lesson or two of how to fix your game, a fact or two on politics or just some creative thoughts he had to share. He was filled with a sense of compassion to everyone he encountered, so often having nothing to give yet giving it all away without a second thought. His sense of humor was unique, you could say he was a character! His brother Guy often referred to his morning visits as "Coffee with Chris". Visits that always left him in stiches and pondering where Chris came up with these things. Set in his ways, loyal to the core and one of the proudest and most stubborn Irishman the world could have Chris was a Windham treasure. Chris joins his brothers Jim and Guy as well as his parents now to watch over us all. He leaves behind his brother, Michael and several cousins, nieces & nephews.
"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever.";
