Knox- Craig Champion, 44, died peacefully in his sleep at St Peter's Hospice Inn on October 13, 2018 after a battle with cancer and surrounded by his wife and daughter. Born in Knox on October 29, 1973, son of Don and Diane (Primeau) Champion, he was a 1991 graduate of Berne Knox Westerlo High School and Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Oneonta. Craig was a member of the Altamont Fair grounds crew starting in 1995 and continued in that capacity for over 10 years. After graduating college he worked for Eber Brother's Distributing Company in Altamont before starting his career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. Craig loved his work with the post office and was beloved by his co-workers throughout the offices he frequented including Troy, South Glens Falls and most recently Branch 29 in Albany. Craig was a member of the Knox Fire Company for 19 years serving in multiple roles including Assistant Captain and Membership Secretary. He was also a member of Albany County Fireman's Association and a past member of NYS Stock Car Association. Craig was an avid sports fan routing for the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He loved to bowl and was involved in leagues at Westlawn Lanes and Town and Country Lanes both in Guilderland. He also enjoyed going to the dirt track races at Fonda Speedway and was often a fixture there with his parents. In addition to his parents, Craig is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jennifer (Rosen) Champion whom he married September 23, 2006; their daughter Reagan Beatrice Champion; his sister Beth (Peter) LaValle; niece Vivian LaValle; mother-in-law Rhea Rosen and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Craig was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Beatrice (Teal) Primeau and paternal grandparents, Gerald Champion and Ethel (Gray) Champion. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 19th at 11 am at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY with burial to follow immediately after at the Knox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 18, from 4-8 at the funeral home.
