Das, Dipika - Waterford
Our beloved ma Dipika Das, went to be with Lord Jesus Christ for eternity on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the age of 82. She took her last breath at Albany Medical Hospital, New York, at 11:40 AM with her children by her side.
She has left behind countless fans, followers and admirers. Dipika Das was a leading Christian writer of scripts and song lyrics for two decades in Bangladesh TV and Radio, composing numerous songs and dramas including Christmas plays for 27 years for national Bangladeshi television. A number of her songs were later adapted and incorporated in church hymns books. On Dipika Das's leadership as treasurer, the 200 year-old Sadarghat Dhaka Baptist Church was re-constructed and later become self sufficient, sending missionaries in remote Bangladesh fulfilling the "Great Commission".
Dipika was also wife to our Bangladeshi National Anthem Composer, and Orchestration Director of "AMAR SONAR BANGLA", Samar Das.
Mr. Samar Das was also a Freedom Fighter and composer of numerous patriotic songs and scored thousands of music for drama, film, and documentaries.
Dipika Das was actively involved in the Christian women's movement, empowering Bengali women in cities and rural remote villages by building awareness and developing consciousness of their rights as women. She served in leadership of the women's division of the NCCB (National Council of Churches in Bangladesh) for almost a decade. She traveled most of the world for Christian women's development and advancement.
Dipika was a loving daughter, grand daughter, niece, sister, sister in law, aunt, wife, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother and mother of her children Alfred, Albert, Ria, Angelina, Clifford and Arleon who she loved and cherished. Her love for God has been a lasting inspiration for many and the guiding principle for her children.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Dipika's family in Rock Road Chapel in Berne on Friday January 31st from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11am Rev. Jay T. Francis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy at 2pm.
