Donald L. Filkins

Guilderland- Donald L. Filkins, 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at St. Peter's Hospital on January 29, 2016. Born in East Berne, NY, Don was the son of the late LeRoy and Edna (nee Brannock) Filkins. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from Local 106 Operating Engineers and SUNY Albany. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly; his five children, Don (Linda) Filkins, Laurie (Kevin) Farrar, Mary (Mike) Swint, Paula Filkins-Bordis(Jim) and Julie (Randy) Taber; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Warren, Myron and Thomas; his sister Florence Glowacki-Sarnowski. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4-7PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. His family would like to thank St. Peter's Hospital and staff for the kind, compassionate, loving care and guidance given.
