Guilderland - Edward C. Bohl passed away March 9, 2011 after a brief illness. He was 83. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Schell Bohl, a brother Charles A. Bohl and 2 daughters, Diane L. Bohl of Carmel, California and Theresa J. Bohl of Saratoga Springs, New York. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Theresa Bohl, his brother Daniel C. Bohl, and his beloved daughter Deborah Lee Bohl. He was also predeceased by special horse Missy.
Ed was a World War II Navy veteran. He graduated from Altamont High School, earned his BA in Accounting from Syracuse University and worked on his MS in Taxation from New York University. He worked briefly for NYS Taxation department and then for a small accounting firm in Albany. He owned several businesses including the Bumble Bee restaurant, the Busy Bee car wash and the Painted Pony Ranch in addition to managing Charles Bohl, Inc properties for the past 40+ years. He was actively working until his illness struck in January.
Ed was an understated yet witty, kind and generous person to all around him. He was perennially optimistic and always looked for the bright side in situations. He encouraged his daughters in their careers and travels and was very proud of their accomplishments. He also loved his horses and delighted in their achievements.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for their caring help during this difficult time.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. A private interment will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In light of Ed's love of horses, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the horse sanctuary that Ed admired in Chatham, NY called Equine Advocates - P.O.
