New Scotland - Edward C. Ziehm, 86, died on Saturday January 9, 2010 at Guilderland Center Nursing Home. He was born on March 14, 1923 in Albany, to the late Charles and Lena Ziehm. He grew up working on his brother George's dairy farm on Krumkill Road. He then went to live with his sister Helen and became a part of the Miller Farm, during which he worked for the Sears Warehouse for 25 years. While he was on the Miller Farm he shared his knowledge and love for farming and agriculture with his great grandnephews Adam and Chase Miller and grandniece Kaitlyn Mahoney. He enjoyed bowling with the Town and Country Seniors. He took pride and enjoyed his gardens. He is survived by his nephews, George (Kay) Miller, Frank (Terry) Ziehm, a niece Ellie (Peter) White and a nephew Richard (Kathy) Rivers; his grandnieces and grandnephews, Wendy (John) Mahoney, Doug (Mary) Miller, Brian (Kate) Ziehm, Eric (Jamie) Ziehm and Stuart (Jessica) Ziehm as well as several great grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers George and Leroy, and two sisters Dorothy and Helen. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Friends may call prior 9:30 to 11AM. An interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Road Latham, NY 12110.
