Eileen G. Mulson
Guilderland – (Formerly of East Berne) Eileen G. Mulson 90, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017 at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Margaret H. Gleason. She was born and raised in Albany and graduated from the Vincentian Institute in 1943. She worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone and as a switchboard operator for the General Adjustment Bureau before becoming a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Eileen's passion was planting and growing flowers, especially dahlias and tulips. She was a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of NY State, member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., member of the Guilderland Garden Club, and Hill and Dale Garden Club. She was a Master Flower Show Judge with the Federated Garden Clubs of NY State. Eileen, together with her husband, grew large gardens for over fifty years and enjoyed preserving and freezing their homegrown vegetables and fruits. She also enjoyed being at the ocean or poolside swimming with her children and grandchildren. During the last five years spent at Our Lady of Mercy, she continued to enjoy gardening in the courtyard and playing Bingo.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Bernard H. Mulson, who died in 2010; and her brother, Thomas L Gleason III. She is survived by her sister, Marcia (William) Smith. She is survived by her four children, Karl Mulson, Karen Dinardi and husband Nicholas, Kurt Mulson and wife Terri, and Kathryn Giebitz and husband Paul, seven grandchildren, Jordan and wife Rebecca Mulson, Meghan Dinardi, Matthew and Gregory Mulson, Adam, Aaron, and Alex Giebitz, six great-grandchildren, Judah, Benjamin and Olive Mulson, Brynnlee, Brayden, and Brooklyn Giebitz, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the compassionate care given to Eileen during her 5 years there.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 13, at 11AM followed by an interment at the Highpoint Cemetery, Knox, NY
