Knox- Elaine B. Martin 65, died suddenly at her home on December 22, 2012. Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Barbara Pollock. She graduated from Berne-Knox -Westerlo High School in 1966 and soon after received her LPN license. Elaine was a devoted and compassionate nurse and spent 40 plus years using her education to care for family and friends. Most recently Elaine worked for Altamont Internal Medicine and additionally as a home care nurse. She was president of the Altamont Rescue Squad where she had volunteered 21 years of service. Elaine loved the beaches in York Beach, ME and gardening flowers in the yard. For the past 40 years she participated in many bowling leagues and most recently leagues with her sons at Town and Country. Above all she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her three sons George Jr. (Jennifer), Chad (Stacey) and Scott (Mary Carrillo); nine grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Zachary (Lonergan), Ryan, Noah, Hailey, Nathan, Lillian and Alea; her brother Charles (Vickie) Pollock II; special friends Barbara Henderson, Noel Hatley and her dog Kasey. She is predeceased by her beloved husband George Martin Sr. of 40 years. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10:00AM at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, followed by an interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4-8PM. Donations may be made in her honor to the American Red Cross.
