Kirk, Elizabeth W

Elizabeth “Liz” W. Kirk, 81, formerly of Slingerlands, NY, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY. Born on December 13, 1941, in Queens, NY, Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of the late Fred and Henrietta (Fahl) Weber. The family moved to Roxbury, NY in 1948, where Elizabeth graduated from Roxbury High School in 1959. She attended SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill where she earned a degree in 1962 in ornamental horticulture, was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Sorority and Orange Key and met her future husband, Edwin K. Kirk. The two were married on the first day of spring, March 21, 1964, and resided in Slingerlands, NY where they raised two children, established successful businesses and were happily married for fifty years until Ed’s passing in 2014. Liz owned and operated Kirk’s Flowers & Gifts in Slingerlands, NY, a staple in the community for many years where she employed her artistic talents in making the most beautiful floral arrangements. In later years, Liz was also employed by the Albany Catholic Diocese and KeyBank. She especially loved to decorate and plan gatherings, from pinochle card parties to more elaborate holiday parties, such as the annual 4th of July picnic at her home. She enjoyed antiquing road trips and family trips to Disney and camp in South Hero, VT. She enjoyed bowling, playing the piano and more recently, bingo. Always thoughtful of others, she made certain to send greeting cards to everyone for any and all occasions. But most of all she treasured her family, especially her grandchildren, and the life-long friendships she made throughout the years.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving son, Christopher E. (Donna) Kirk of Voorheesville, NY; daughter Jeannine E. Kirk of Feura Bush, NY; grandsons, Christopher M. (Cassandra) Kirk and Brendan C. Kirk of Voorheesville, NY; granddaughters, Emily E. Freer and Abby N. Freer of Feura Bush, NY; and special great-grandson Tristin L. Kirk of Voorheesville, NY. In addition to her husband, Edwin K. Kirk, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Weber of Wantagh, NY in 2022, her sister Ann Alboum of Saratoga Springs, NY in 2022 and her sister, Caroline Roache of Cobleskill, NY in 1994. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the New Scotland Presbyterian Church, 2010 New Scotland Road, Slingerlands, NY.
