Emma "Petie" LaGasse Cornell ,71 loving mother,grandmother, greatgrandmother,aunt and friend passed away suddenly at home on Sat.Dec.19,2009. She was born on Sept. 17,1938 the daughter of
Clifton and Elaine (nee Turk) LaGasse in Rome ,NY.She was predeceased by her husband Gordon ("Foxy") Cornell on May 25,2004. They were married on April 30,1960. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother Clifton LaGasse. She is survived by her childen, Tracy Lynne and her husband James Quick ,Gordon Shawn Cornell and his wife Crystal Marie, Master Sgt. Todd Carl Cornell and his wife Lisa ,
Kelly Elaine and her husband SMG Michael Jon Hartzel and Holly-Anne Georgia and her husband David Nelson Bresee. She is the grandmother of Justin Stuart and Lucas Gordon Howard,Sgt. Michael S., Rachel Lynn, Heather Elaine, Timothy (Joe) , Emma, Nicholas Todd, Mattia Emma, Addrianna Sarah, Alex, David Gordon and Autumn. She is the great-grandmother of Josiah, Simeon, Judah and another great-grandchild due in July. She is also survived by her sister Clara Cross as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emma loved and enjoyed her family and was totally dedicated to her family and friends. She also loved to sing . She was an active member in quite a few of organizations. She was a member of the Prattsville Dutch Reformed Church where she also sang in the choir, she was on the board of the Pratt Museum, she was a member of the Eastern Star Oasis Chapter, she was a member of the Republican Committee, she was also a member of the Prattsville Hose Co. Ladies Auxillary and the local Avon representative for over thirty years.
Calling hours will be held on Sat. Dec.26,2009 at Decker Funeral Home, Windham, NY from 2-4 &7-9pm.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Dutch Reformed Church in Prattsville, NY on Sun Dec.27,2009 at 1:00pmwith Rev. Greg Town and Rev. Becky Town and grandson Justin Stuart Howard officiating Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Prattsville, NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Emma's memory to the St. Jude's Children Hospital or the American Heart Association or the Prattsvile Hose Co.
