Altamont- Frances M. Moshier, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2010 at home with her family by her side. She was formerly Dennis, Massachusetts, and Port Charlotte, Florida. She was born on February 19, 1918, 3rd of7 children of David and Amanda Peterson of Bertrand, Nebraska. She moved to Stamford, NY in 1930, was a graduate of Stamford High School (1936) and Mildred Elley. She was married on September 16, 1945, to the late Michael Joseph (Joe) Moshier. She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing and heating business, Bickford and Moshier, in Latham, New York. Her many activities included playing bridge, reading, swimming, golf and travel. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Altamont for many years before moving from the area. Frances is survived by two sons, Michael (Terry) Moshier, James (Mary Ellen Moshier) and one daughter, Catherine (Paul) Hasbrouck, three sisters, June Millward, Stamford NY, Beverly (Matthew) Blaine, Staten Island and Beulah (William) Stevens of Athens, NY and two brothers Clifford (Gloria) Peterson of Pittsburgh, PA. And Royce (Janet) Peterson, Massena, NY, grandchildren Melanie (Chris) Whiteley, Jennifer (Michael) Koehlinger, Jeremy (Julie) Hasbrouck, Michelle Portell, Lauren (Devin) Anderson, Katie (Nick) Moshier-Suhr and eight great grandchildren, Erin, Preston, Emma, Alexander, Owen, Isaac, Natalie and Haley and many beloved nieces and nephews. She predeceased by her husband Michael Joseph (Joe) Moshier in 1994, her brother Stanley Peterson, her grandson, Captain Timothy Moshier in 2006 and a grandson-in-law Benjamin Portell. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Altamont, March 2, 2010 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
