Frederick S. Hout, age 73 of Altamont, passed away March 9, 2021 after a long illness. Born in Albany, NY to Frederick and Margaret Hout. Fred was a graduate of Albany High School and went on to serve in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1966-68. Fred spent his career as a boilermaker and retired from the University at Albany after 27 years as a general mechanic. Fred’s true passion in life was his Hot Rods and traveling with his fellow street rodders to car shows nationwide. Fred could often be found in the garage working on his 1939 Ford Coupe or his 1940 Packard Hearse. Fred was an avid fan of the local band “Badge” where he made lasting friendships and met his future wife. He enjoyed vacations each year to York Beach, Maine with his family and friends making some of his favorite memories. Fred will be missed by his lifelong friends for his spirited personality and witty comebacks. Fred is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rebecca M. Hout and his children Abigail Mason (Nathaniel) of Altamont and Stephen Hout of Guilderland. He relished his role as Papa to his cherished grandson, Noah Mason of Altamont. Fred is also survived by his sister Evelyn Estes (James) of Mountain View, Ca and Anthony Hout (Lori) of Albany. NY as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Calling hours will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont on Saturday March 13, 2021 from 11 am – 1pm. Followed by a private family service at 1pm. The service will be streamed via Zoom with the link available on the Fredendall website. In leu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education c/o The Campership Fund P.O. Box 356 North Oxford MA 01537.
