Princetown - George A. Gifford died peacefully on January 8, 2009 at his residence in Princetown, NY. He was born on January 24, 1927, the son of Harlan and Irena (Blessing) Gifford. Husband of Shirley (Clute) Gifford, Father of Diane Gifford, Step-father of Roger Heckman and his wife Joy, Nancy McDermott and her husband John, Grandfather of Sara, Anne-Marie and Kristin VanderVeen and Maureen McDermott and Jason and Heather Heckman, brother of Dorothy Tygert, Margaret Bixby, Durrell, Warren and Ralph Gifford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie (Nee Young) Gifford and his brother Robert Gifford. George was a heavy equipment operator for the New York State Thruway, in Albany, NY. He was a life member of the Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the mission committee. A private family viewing will be held at the Fredendall Funeral Home on Tuesday A funeral service will be conducted at the Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church for all who wish to attend on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 10 am. George's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Schenectady Community Hospice for their excellent care while George was at home. In lieu of flowers contributions in George's memory may be made to Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Mission Budget Fund at 3662 Gifford's Church Rd., Duanesburg, NY 12056
