Guilderland- George H. Richardson, 83, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a short battle with stomach cancer. He was born in Albany, NY to the late Frederick and Ida Richardson on September 27, 1929. He is survived by his wife Jean Richardson, a daughter, Brenda Richardson of Mastic Beach, NY, a son, Michael (Joanne) Richardson of Poestenkill, NY and their children Kate and Scott. He is also survived by his sister Mildred (James) Hoke of Albany and various nephews.
He was married on January 12, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Albany, NY to his beloved Jean. Together they lived in Guilderland for more than 60 years. George served his country and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked in various capacities as an auto mechanic retiring from DePaula Chevrolet in 1990. He was active in Pine Bush Little League and was a Trustee in the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. George was enthusiastic fisherman and enjoyed camping. In his later years, he enjoyed model railroading, train watching and spending time with his grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5-7PM with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Fredendall Funeral Home 199 Main St. Altamont. A graveside service to be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 11AM, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Rt. 20, Guilderland.
