Hensonville, NY- Hervey Austin Barber Sr., 85, passed away at his home, with his family by his side on September 30, 2017. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 21, 1932 to the late Marvin and Frances Ryan Barber.
Hervey was a truck driver for H.B. Moore. He worked many years for Len Fancher, owner of Victory Garage. He then worked many years as a snow cat driver and a body repair man for Hunter Mountain.
He was predeceased by his two sisters Jeannette and Charlotte; his brother Marvin Jr.; his daughters Theresia Burger, Debra Allen and Lori Holdridge.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Boughton Barber; his daughter Sandra Dee (Frances) Hoffman; his sons Hervey A.R. Barber and John Barber; his son-in-law David Holdridge; fourteen grandchildren Crystal (Nina) Rogers, Amy and family, Joshua (Stephenney) Holdridge, Kathleen (Henry) Nidhan, Christina Reilly, Jerry Reilly, Krystal (Scott) Hosier, Austin Barber, Patti, Cindi (Chris), Carrie, Lisa, Cody and Gessie Alberty; great grandchildren Quinten, Dennis, Michiel, Brooke, Aiden , Matti, Rose, Lelland, Mackenzie, Savannah, Owen, several nieces, nephews and cousins; a dear friend whom is like family, Kathleen Gibson.
Hervey was a wonderful and much-loved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and loving friend.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5-7PM at Decker Funeral Home, 5312 Main Street, Windham, NY. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
