James H. Figel

Berne - James H. Figel Jr. 69, died on Thursday June 2, 2011 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 13, 1942 the son of the late James H. and Clara A. (nee Becker) Figel in Albany NY. He is survived by his loving wife Diane, his brother Jerald and his sister Delores (Robert) Durfee. He is the uncle of Robert Durfee Jr. and Lori Durfee and David Smith, great uncle of Heather Durfee and Jason Smith. He is also survived by his very close friend Matt Barends. Jim was an operating engineer for the Town of Berne Highway Dept. He also was a member of the Berne Masonic Lodge as well as a life member of the East Berne Fire Department. Calling hours will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St. Altamont, NY on Sun. June 5, 2011 from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday June 6, 2011 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Helderberg Ambulance PO Box 54 East Berne, NY 12059 or the East Berne Fire Company PO Box 32 East Berne, NY 12059.
