James P. O'Connor, aged 78, died peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2017 in the presence of his loving family at his home in Windham. Jimmy was born on July 25, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, and has been a resident of Windham since the 1970s.
Jimmy founded, owned, and operated the Windham Mountain Inn alongside his wife Mary for almost 50 years. His love of community and passion for hospitality was evident in everything that he did.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Jimmy was a proud graduate of Brooklyn Prep and Fairfield University. Jimmy was a first generation Irish American, and was very proud of his heritage.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Mary (Fletcher), children Maggie and John, sister Kathleen McIntyre, and a loving extended family. Jimmy is predeceased by his parents Peg and Joe O'Connor. He will forever be remembered by those who loved him for his loyalty and generosity.
A Memorial Mass to honor and remember Jimmy will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Theresa's Church in Windham.
