Dublin, GA - James William Thomas of Dublin, GA passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 25, 2014. Born December 6, 1938 in Oneonta, NY, he was retired from New York State University Construction Fund after 37 years of working. He was also a member of the Altamont Rescue Squad, the Altamont Fire Department as well as the Summit Fire Department for a number of years. He was also a consistory mentor of Altamont Reformed Church. Jim enjoyed relaxing while drinking his coffee and watching sports. He was a man you could go to for advice no matter how big or small the problem was. Jim loved to drive in his 1972 Chevy truck. He was always doing some project of sort as he loved to keep busy.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Jensen Thomas of Dublin, GA; sons Robert Thomas (Deb) of Rexford, NY, Michael Thomas of Clifton Park, NY, Randy Thomas of Menands,NY and Richard Ott (Donna) of Warner Robins, GA; his daughters Robyn Stone (Theodore) of Dublin, GA and Becky Carman (Lee) of Guilderland, NY; 2 nephews James and Steve Dresser; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; Byron and Esther Thomas of Oneonta NY and also by his sister Beverly Thomas-Dresser(Robert) of Oneonta, NY.
A memorial service will be held at Altamont Reformed Church on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2PM with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Altamont Fire Department, Altamont Rescue Squad, Altamont Reformed Church or Pinehill United Methodist Church of Dublin, GA.
