ASHLAND
Janice Aplin Knox passed away on June 30 2015. She was born on April 22 1939 in Catskill NY to Lee and Ethel (nee Jaeger) Aplin.. She graduated high school from WAJ in 1957 and then went on to the Mildred Elley Secretarial School in Albany NY, where she completed her studies in 1958. She worked for seven years as an office manager. In 1965 she married the love of her life, Bruce Knox. They lived together in Ashland and had two children, David and Tina.
Janice did a lot of volunteer work, such as working with the Ashland Rescue Squad, Ashland & Greene County Ladies Auxillary, coaching softball and chaperoning field trips with WAJ students. She enjoyed gardening, bike riding, walking and bowling throughout her lifetime. As a bowler, she competed on the local, state and national level. Janice and her husband Bruce spent the winter months in Florida after their retirement.
Janice is survived by her husband Bruce (married 49 years), her children David Knox (Carol), Tina (Joe) Meehan, her brother Lee Aplin Jr., her sister Dolores Decker, her sister in law Leona Knox, grandchildren Amanda and Patrick, as well as many cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday at Decker Funeral Home, Main Street Windham NY. An interment will take place the following day, Friday July 3 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at 11 AM.
