Joan M. Butler

Joan M. Butler of Rensselaer died in Albany on January 31st, 2022. Daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Coughlin) Butler.
Joan will be remembered by her many friends she made as a Leader of the Girl Scouts. Joan enjoyed her many years with the Brownie Troop 489, Junior Troop 334, and Cadet Troop 72 in Speigletown. Joan enjoyed her membership in the Patroon Dog Club with her award-winning black Poodles McTigh, McGee, Finnigan, Brodie and Paddy.
Joan is survived by her nieces Karen (Gary) Becker, Joanne Matott, Janice Butler, Barbara Reidel, Jean (Timothy) Mahar and Linda (John) Wilson and her goddaughter, Eileen (Robert) Becker-Rendano. In addition to her parents Joan is predeceased by her nine siblings.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph`s Church 416 3rd St, Troy at 11:30 am on Thursday February 3rd. Friends are invited to visit with Joan`s family at the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home prior to mass from 9-11am. Interment will be in St. Joseph`s Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
