Adriance, Joseph Thomas (Joe) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 19th, 2024.Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Orson and Marjorie (Rings) Adriance. Joe worked for the US Postal Service for many years, retiring in 2012. Following his retirement he worked at the Town of Knox transfer station – by far his favorite career. His garage bears witness to the ‘treasures’ that he found there. More important to him than the physical treasures were the people he worked with and those he met and became friends with there. “The dump” was the epicenter of the town and a favorite gathering spot for good friends and good conversation.
Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan (Van De Weert) Adriance and their most precious gifts –daughter Marjorie, her husband Eric Croote and their grandchildren Wade Joseph Croote and Ellie Grace Croote. He is also survived by his loving twin daughters Shannon Pisanelli and Christine Adriance, their children and grandchildren and his niece Jennifer Gardner. In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his brother, Michael Adriance. The ultimate pet lover, Joe was also predeceased by the dog whom he claimed rescued him, his “little buddy” Shorty.
The family is grateful for the thoughtful care that Joe received over the past year from Jill Martin, Dr. Harry Odabashian and his staff and The Community Hospice. A very special thanks to Lorayne Traina for always being just a phone call away to help in any way it was needed. Joe was able to remain at home in large part due to her constant support at any hour of the day or night. To our sweet Beth Brown, thank you for being our greatest gift in the last hours of his life.
Friends and family are invited to visit with the family at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY on Wednesday, July 31 st , from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe’s name may be made to the Knox Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 2175 Berne Altamont Road, Altamont, NY 12009.
