Joseph A. Kearns

Guilderland- Joseph A. Kearns passed away on December 6, 2021 with his loving wife and family by his side. Joseph is the loving husband of Mary Shaughnessy Kearns and was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Hennessy Kearns. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his brother Donald F. (late Joan) Kearns Sr. and his sister Eleanor A. Klein. Joseph was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Edward Kearns and William “Billy” Kearns.

Joseph enjoyed golfing, bowling, NY Yankee baseball games, trips to Saratoga Race Track, and Atlantic City. He loved playing and winning at bocce, horseshoes, billiards, and baseball. He never missed a Sunday night of Michigan Rummy with his beloved family while drinking Pepsi “never” Coke.

Joe proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Joe attended Sacred Heart School and Catholic High. He graduated from Albany Business College. He worked at Fitzgerald Construction, Haven Electric, and then began his career with NYS Dept. of Labor. Joe attended Saint Madeleine Sophie Church.

In addition to his brothers and sisters Joe was a special uncle to Karen Foley (Dan), Carole Caputo (Lou), William (Bill) Klein, Marie Kanellis (Bob), Donald Kearns Jr (Sharon) , Robyn Kearns (Seamus), and has many great-nieces and nephews.

All services are private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, Ny 12303 or Capital City Rescue Mission 259 S. Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202 would be appreciated.
