Joseph P. Kernozek of Stone Road passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 17, 2014 after being stricken at his residence. He was 81.
Born in Albany on November 23, 1932, son of the late Alexander and Alice (Mause) Kernozek. He is the husband of the former Hilda M. Rivenburg, whom he married in 1956.
A veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Joe worked as a heavy duty engineer for Ken Smith Machinery of Menands. He is a Past Commander of the Voorheesville American Legion and a life member of the Voorheesville Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed tending bar at both organizations. Being brought up on a farm, Joe enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated family man.
Survivors in addition to his wife Hilda Kernozek include their children; JoAnn Kernozek-Stott of Schenectady, Michael Steven Kernozek of Charlotte, NC, Alexander Joseph (Laurie) Kernozek of Berne-Knox and Suzanne Kernozek Gwinn of Grimes, IA, a brother, Thaddeuis “Teddy” (Eileen) Kernozek and a sister-in-law Marion Kiernozek, all of Voorheesville. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his brother Chester “Chet” Kiernozek.
Relatives and friends may call from 11-12noon on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. Memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon in the funeral home.
