Guilderland-- Joyce Locantore of Guilderland, on August 14,2012 succumbed after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. Joyce was born in Bayshore, NY and grew up in Babylon, NY.
After high school she worked at Schrafts executive offices in NYC for a time before meeting the love of her life, Frank. They were married on the 16th of July 1963 in Rochester, NY. Joyce became a homemaker and mother of two daughters. In 1973 the family moved to the Albany area. Joyce eventually became a kindergarten teachers aide at the Lynnwood elementary school and then a special education aide at the Guilderland High School. For a number of years Joyce and Frank went back to Long Island where she worked for the town of Babylon, from where she retired in 2001. Ultimately coming back to Guilderland where she and Frank owned their home. Joyce then started working at Karner Psychological Associates as part of their office staff until April of this year. Joyce, however, always put her family first. She will be forever cherished in their hearts. Her bright smile, the sparkle in her eye and her kind heart will remain with them always.
Joyce is survived by her adoring husband Frank of 49 years. Her 2 daughters, Maria Davis (Stephanie), Michele Pallis (Evros). Her grandchildren, Lauren Parker (Jarred), Lindsay Nates (Jesse), Alexander Pallis and Clio Pallis. And her great-grandchildren, Jordyn Parker, Hailey Parker, Aubrey Nates, Natalie Parker, Anthony Parker, Sydney Nates, Charlotte Parker and Dominic Nates.
The family would like to thank the folks at Karner and all the many friends and family for their love, support and generosity over the past few months.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Main St., Altamont on Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joyce?Ts memory to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society or to the Community Hospice of Albany County.
