East Berne- Lyndon "Mike" Leonard, 70, passed away suddenly August 18, 2018. He was born in Springfield, MA on January 26, 1948. He graduated Monadnock High School in Swanzey, NH in 1966. Mike served in the USAF as a Blue Beret for 4 years during Vietnam. He graduated from Keene State College in 1974 earning his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts. He then went on to earn his Masters in Education at Albany State. Mike was employed at Berne-Knox-Westerlo CSD from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. Mike was a NYS Archery Chairperson for the NYS Empire Games. He earned numerous medals from state archery events himself including two Bronze medals from the National Senior Games in Pittsburgh, PA and Louisville, KY. Mike taught archery here at home at Helderberg Workshops – Rakowana Archery. He was the Regional Director for Duck's Unlimited- Eastern Region for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his beloved wife Paula; his daughters Lauren Leonard and her husband Randall Partridge Jr. of Greenville, NY and Alison Leonard and her fiancé Adam Karazuba of Dallas, TX; his mother Vivian Pickering of Keene, NH; his sister Devida DePalma of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth W. Leonard. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 4-8PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11AM. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rt. 85 New Scotland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
