Lois S. Uhl

Lois S. Uhl, 91 and 9 months, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2024. Born on March 11, 1933, in Central Bridge, NY, she was the daughter of Rev. G. Oliver Sands and Lulu (Goodrich) Sands.

Lois was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert (Bob) Uhl; her daughter, Karen Uhl; her sister, Mary Ellen Van Amerongen; her half-sisters, Laura Enders and Nellie Carver; and her half-brother, David Enders.

A graduate of Schodack Central School in Castleton-on-Hudson, NY, Lois worked for many years as an Avon Lady. She treasured time spent with her husband, Bob, tending to their yard, garden, and countless houseplants. Together, they created warm memories hosting their favorite annual clam bake with family and friends.

Lois was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Altamont and an active member in the American Legion Post 977 in Altamont.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Zell (Brian); her beloved granddaughter, Brianna Zell; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Peregrine Senior Living at Mill Rose Court Slingerlands for providing Lois with a loving home and to her dedicated 24/7 care team-Paulette, Lorrie, Samantha, Lisa, Donna, Georgine, Debbie, and Susan-for their unwavering support in making her wish to return home a reality.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 140 Maple Avenue, Altamont, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
