Lynda J. Thomas

Altamont - Lynda J. Thomas passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born on May 24,1941, daughter of Robert and Ernestine Jensen. She was a lifelong resident of Altamont.
Lynda attended Guilderland High school, graduating in 1959. Lynda worked a variety of jobs over the years; opening her own sewing store, bookkeeping, Walmart and making and selling Christmas wreaths and decorations.

In addition to her parents, Lynda was predeceased by her husband, Jim Thomas. Lynda was the loving mother of Becky (Lee) Carman, Guilderland, NY, Rich (Nickie) Ott, Fermandina Beach, FL, and Robyn (Ted) Stone, Dublin, GA; step mother of Bob (Deb) Thomas, Randy Thomas and Michael (Sharon) Thomas. Lynda was the beloved grandmother of Taylor Carman, Kara Greagan, Linda-Jean Ott, Jessica Quigley, Melana Reeves, Ryan Pratt, Jordan Ott, Stephen Wolcott, Chris Wolcott and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Keller and brother, Daniel Jensen. Lynda is also survived by three step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.

Mom was a member of the Altamont Rescue Squad for many years. She relocated to Summit NY where they built their log cabin and ran a Christmas tree farm business. Eventually moving to Port Orange, Florida where she enjoyed her friends, family, and the sunshine. Over the years she lived in Florida and Georgia then back to her roots in Altamont. She was a member of her community; member of the Altamont Rescue Squad, participated in Seniors, planned class reunions and a member of Altamont Reformed Church. Mom enjoyed her days out with her friends and family frequenting her favorite restaurants/diners. Her strength, fight and love for her family will be missed! We want to send our thanks to Pastor Matthew Van Maastricht, Peregrine Crossgates St. Peter’s and Hospice (Albany Co.) for their loving care, concern and support during these difficult times. Calling hours will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont, on Sunday, 2-3 pm, followed a brief prayer service. Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Altamont Rescue Squad: 767 NY-146, Altamont, NY 12009 in Lynda’s honor.
