Marjorie Claus, formerly of Gallupville, passed away on December 20, 2010 at the Daughters of Sarah nursing Center in Albany. She was 90 years old. Marge was born in Albany on October 25, 1920 and lived in Schenectady until moving to Gallupville in 1943. She and her husband, the late William G. Claus, raised four children and operated Honey Hill, their apiary at 877 Route 443. She retired from the State of New York Department of Education in 1976. Marge was active in her community, serving as town clerk and more recently as President of the Rural Cemetery Board. She enjoyed the company of her friends in the Gallupville Canasta Club. Marge was predeceased by her husband, William Claus, and her brother, Joseph Klein. She is survived by her sister, Cecilia Cummings of Amenia, NY; children William (Elizabeth Denning) of Sommerset MA, Martha (Bruce Artz) of Ann Arbor MI, Chris (Kathy Catlin) and James, of Gallupville. She is also survived by grandchildren Santa Dibble, Heidi Miner, William Scott Claus, James and Caroline Artz and Benjamin Claus; and great grandchildren Hannah and Chelsea Dibble, Jonathan and Zack Miner and Andrew and Austin Claus. At Marge's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service to recall and celebrate her life will be announced later in the spring, at the family's convenience. Memorial contributions may be made in Marge's memory to the Scho-Wright Ambulance Squad or to the Gallupville Volunteer Fire Department.
