Marjorie Susan White Williams of Altamont died October 23, 2011, after a long illness. She was born in Albany, N.Y. on October 31, 1927, the daughter of the late J. Russell White and Elizabeth Clum White. She graduated from Albany Academy for Girls (1945) and Skidmore College (1949) and earned a degree of master of science and education from the College of Saint Rose in 1981. Marjorie taught art for many years at Albany Academy for Girls and later pursued a career as a sculptress exhibiting her work at various locations throughout the capital district including Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany Center Galleries and elsewhere including Cooperstown, New York City and Chesterwood at Stockbridge, MA.
She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Williams, Jr. of Altamont, sons Frank J. Williams, III and his wife Kristin of Schoharie and Frederick J. Williams and his wife Emily of Norwalk, CT, daughter Carrie Louise Williams of Bishop, CA, and grandchildren Claire Grace Williams and Margot Rebecca Williams of Schoharie. She is predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Jean White Smith of Sanbornville, NH, a brother Russell J. White and nephew Russell C. Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 28, 2011, at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service form 10 AM to 11AM.
