Martin F. Strnad, Jr., 83, was called home by the Lord on October 1, 2024. He was at his home in Altamont, NY, surrounded by his loving family. Martin was born on October 16, 1940 in Albany, NY to Adele and Martin F. Strnad, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolores (Lynne), daughters Kristen (Russell Stouffer) and Kerry (Richard Bytner) and three amazing grandsons: Ryan, Ethan and Caleb Stouffer. Martin is also survived by his beloved brother, Kevin J. Strnad of Collegeville, PA.
Martin grew up on Myrtle Avenue in Albany, NY and was a proud 1958 graduate of Vincentian Institute. He furthered his education at St. Bonaventure University, and spent time in the Seminary there. Martin also served in U.S. Army, and was promoted through the ranks for his willingness to 'lead by example.' While serving in the military, he met his future wife on a blind date. Martin and Lynne married in August of 1969, when he was still attending Albany Law School. He graduated in 1971. Martin spent the majority of his career working for the New York State Court of Appeals in the Clerks office. Martin's true loves in life were simple: his Catholic Faith, Family, and Lake George, NY. Matthew 25:21 RSVCE: "His master said to him, 'well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master'"
The family would like to share their sincere gratitude to Dr. Shai Posner, Meagan, and the team at Albany Gastroenterology. Martin was blessed to have you as his care team. Sincerest thanks to the Community Hospice team, and the staff at St. Peter's Hospital Inpatient. Outstanding care by all who came in contact with Martin. A special mention to Hospice Inpatient RN, "Bert," who truly hides wings under her scrubs - you are magical. Martin chose to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical Center.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 at St. Lucy's R.C. Church 109 Grand Street, Altamont, NY 12009. Family and friends are invited to visit with Martin's family on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm in Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St.Jude's Children's Hospital, Community Hospice, or Kitten Angels (www.kittenangels.org)
