Maurice E. Decker

Ashland- Maurice E. Decker Jr., 85, died on April 3, 2015. He was born in Windham, NY on November 17, 1929 to the late Maurice Sr. and Hazel (nee Johnson) Decker. Maurice served in the Marines from 1948-1952 and was a member of the Marines Corp. League. He was a member of the American Legion VFW and a life member of the Windham Fire Dept.He worked for the Greene County Highway Dept. for 29 years retiring as a foreman in 1991.He enjoyed bowling,golfing and was a fan of horse racing.He also was a co-owner of a harness pacer at Saratoga Race Track . He enjoyed going to the Marine Corps reunions and was an avid Yankee and Giant fan. He also was a manager in the Mt. Top Little League. He is survived by his wife Dolores(nee Aplin)and daughter Kelly; his grandson Brandon (Rachel) and granddaughter Morgan; his sister Brenda (Carl) Rappleyea and his brother in law Ray Euchler Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Evva Euchler and Jane Throneburg and her husband Lenny. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 11AM - 1PM at Decker Funeral Home, 5312 Rt. 23, Windham, NY with a 1PM service.
