February 5, 1957 — July 14, 2024, Sloansville

Michael Lawrence Swint passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Sunday July 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous long-term battle with his health.

He was born on February 5, 1957, in Albany NY to Giles Williams Swint and Hazel Anne (Sisson.). Mike and his family grew up in Berne NY where he later graduated high school. In 1976, he went on to join the United States Army, where he completed boot camp before being medically discharged. For over 20 years, Michael worked at SUNY Albany as a custodian while also running his own painting business.

He was one of eight children, Cheryl Schmidt, Paulette Payne (Michael), James Swint (Kimberly), Margaret Cintula (John), Giles Swint (Karen), Maureen Ellis and Charles Swint (Jane).

Michael enjoyed playing poker, fishing, gardening, anything to do with basketball and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a hardworking, compassionate and humorous man, who loved cracking jokes and socializing with anyone he came in contact with.

In 1982, Michael married the love of his life Mary Beth Swint. They went on to have two children Kayla DiGiovanni (Vincent) and Michael Swint (Erin). Michael had three grandchildren, Preston Charles DiGiovanni, Roman Michael Swint and Chase Elijah Swint. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

He was predeceased by his parents Giles and Hazel Swint, his grandparents on both sides and his oldest sister, Cheryl Schmidt. There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Berne Town Park, at 2 - 4 p.m.
