Guilderland - Norma Bohl, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 6, 2010 at home with her family by her side. She was born on November 17, 1923 daughter of the late DeForest Sr. and Irene Deitz. Norma grew up on a farm in Berne with her extended family. At age 17, she joined the Army to further the war effort of WWII. After the war, she lived in New York City for a time before returning to Berne. Always a baseball fan, Norma married the star pitcher for a local team. Over the course of their 48 year marriage they had four children as well as many dogs and cats. Many people will remember Norma as the Guilderland Center Postmaster, as well as a gracious hostess, a competitive card player and the life of the party. She was one of the first women inducted into the Guilderland Elks. She is the mother of Daniel DeForest Bohl of Boston, MA, Melody Bohl of Boston, MA, Laurel Bohl and her husband Grant Miller of Niskayuna, Charles Bohl and his wife Lisa of Coral Gables, FL; grandmother of Zachary, Sawyer and Madison Bohl of Coral Gables, FL. She is predeceased by her husband Daniel C. Bohl of Guilderland and her brother DeForest Deitz Jr. of Berne. Friends and Family are invited to gather on Wednesday March 10, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, for a celebration of Norma's Life.
