Patrick J. Stempel

East Berne- Patrick J. Stempel, 74, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his residence. He was born in East Berne, NY on March 17, 1939 to the late John and Therezia (Yanick) Stempel. Patrick was a kind hearted man, who would help no matter what time of day. He retired from the Town of Berne Highway Dept after 25 years of service in 1993. He was a past Chief and life member of the East Berne Fire Department and a Charter member for the Berne Fire Co. He is survived by his children Patricia (Jack) Schaller, Patrick (Kimberly) Stempel, Michael Stempel, Diane (John) Belott and George Stempel; his grandchildren Felicia, Patrick Jr. (PJ), Veronica, Michael, Joshua and Ashley; his great granddaughter Kaylee and a 2nd great grandchild due the end of March; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Rudy and sisters Veronica and Anna. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4-8PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont.
