Peter F. Polukort, 89, died on May 29, 2009 at Albany Medical Center. He was born on September 16 1919, in Nutley NJ, the son of the late John and Maryjanna (Baron) Polukort. He was a Veteran serving in WWII, in the Pacific, Quadra Lain Islands and the Caroline Islands, he also served as a Staff Sergeant in charge of 867th Division of Anti-Aircraft Battery. He was an electrician for the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in April 1984.
He enjoyed Horseshoes, Cribbage and Pinochle and was a NY Giants fan.
He is survived by his children, Peter P. (Karen) Polukort of Knox, NY, Susan (David) Lofvers of Apopka, FL, Mary (Michael) Frisbee of Delanson, NY, Thomas (Alice) Polukort of Schoharie, NY and Christine (John) Valachovic, of Berne, NY; his grandchildren, Jeffery, Michael and Stephen Lofvers, Jacqueline and Stephanie Polukort, Zachary and Megan Frisbee and Zane, Jake and Luke Valachovic and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Helen Maslowsky who died in 1991, his brothers Walter and John Polukort and his sister Stefanie Channell.
Calling hours will be on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, NY from 4:30-7:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Berne, NY at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northeastern Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY.
