Jewett, Robert (Bob) M. Fromm Sr. went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2016. He was born to William and Eve (Brenner) Fromm on August 16, 1924.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Peggy (Barranco) Fromm; his loving children, Vanessa Holloshutz (Joe), Leslie Hyder, Robert Jr.; ten grandchildren; his step children, Peter, Kevin (Donna), and Michael Brabazon; five step grandchildren with four great grandchildren; his loving sister, Anne Forbes of Vero Beach, FL.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Carole Lowell.
Bob grew up in Rockville Center, LI, attended Southside HS, and a Prep School on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, attended the Univ. of NH where he majored in Agriculture, working on a dairy farm in CT. He took over his family's business in Glen Clove, LI. He owned and operated several factories in LI and Puerto Rico where he manufactured elastic braid, rubber products, wire cable and electronic parts for the military. It was then he invented the famous "Fromm Ski Boot Lace"
Bob moved to Windham, NY in 1980, built a 7-apartment Chalet on lands next to Windham Mountain Ski Area on Fromm Rd. and South St.
He opened a saw mill and lumber business in S. Cario, NY and subsequently went into the Antique Auction Business at the same location. He developed Mountain Greenery on Rt. 23.
An avid low- handicap golfer and skier, Bob became a member of the Board of Directors of Windham Country Club for 12 years as chairman of the greens committee. He was a founder and co-chairman of the Windham Amputee Golf Tournament for 10 years.
He became a Director of the Windham Therapeutic Riding Center, to help individuals with special needs.
At his farm in Jewett, he boarded horses and raised a few goats and sheep. He had a pet donkey and raised chickens and geese.
He was a member of the Jewett Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.
There will be a Memorial Service for Bob at the Jewett Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 1:00PM with Pastor James Steffens officiating.
