Knox- Robert Saddlemire of Knox died Monday, December 31, 2012 at Albany Medical Center after suffering a severe fall at home.
He was born October 30, 1931 at home in Knox to Elwood and Helen Bassler Saddlemire. He attended Berne-Knox-Westerlo School and was a farmer all his life until his retirement in 2005. He then turned the family farm over to the fourth generation to carry on the farming operation he loved.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Maryann (Fairman) Saddlemire; his beloved son Kenneth and his wife Margery; a grandson Daniel and Fiancé Katrina Thompson of Rochester and a granddaughter Jacqueline of Knox; his sister Doris Lott of Gallupville and two nephews, Michael Lott of Gallupville and Larry Lott of Palmyra. He was predeceased by his two sisters Marjorie Kane and Beatrice Rukat and a niece Gloria Kane.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 11AM-1PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St. Altamont. A Funeral service to follow at 1PM. Interment will be in the spring at Knox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Roberts’s memory to the Knox Fire Co., Knox Ladies Auxiliary or the Helderberg Ambulance Association.
