Robert E. Shaver

Robert Elmer Shaver, of Berne NY, born to Cleo and Elmer Shaver on December 14, 1939, in Troy, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 84.

Robert, known affectionately as "Bob" to his friends and family, was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.

Mr Shaver is a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1956. His professional career was marked by excellence and integrity. He retired from OTIS Elevator after 25 years of dedicated service as a Union Elevator Mechanic. He was a long-time member of Local 35 of the International Union of Elevator Constructors in Albany, NY.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid reader of science fiction, and could frequently be found engrossed in a book by his favorite sci-fi author, Issac Asimov. In his earlier years, he was on a bowling team in Altamont, NY with his wife Diane.

He was a loving husband to Diane M. Shaver for 30 years. and is survived by his five children, Robert Shaver (Carmen), Roberta Evans (Brad), Anne' Shaver (Matt), Mary Piche and Rose Shaver and two step-daughters Lisa Boucher (Andres) and Roxanne Potter (David). He is also survived by his siblings Jacob E. Shaver, Diane Berlino and Pricilla Shaughnessy and predeceased by sister Shirley Whitehead and 6 other half-siblings.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although he has left this world, his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved and cherished by many.
