Altamont- Rocco “Rocky” Fallone, 88, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 22, 2013. He was born on February 15, 1925. Rocky married Phyllis Carl on April 4, 1947. Together they had one son, John Fallone.
Rocky served in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Chauncey Destroyer where he saw intense action, and survived the Chauncey being struck by a Japanese plane. Rocky had a long career in the bottling industry with Canada Dry and Pepsi Cola and was well known in the industry for his knowledge and experience in bottling.
Rocky always had a project underway and everyone he knew appreciated his ability to fix just about anything. He cherished his beloved wife Phyllis and extended family; most of his free time was devoted to them. He loved working on projects together with a friend or family member, particularly his son. Rocky also loved to spend time with his friends and late in life thoroughly enjoyed his coffee group at the Home Front Restaurant in Altamont. These friends were most dear to him.
The Family would also like to acknowledge the excellent care Rocky received by Dr. Alan Rauch and the Apheresis/Outpatient Transfusion Unit at Albany Medical Center.
Along with his son John and daughter in law Sue, Rocky is survived by his sister Tomasina Kilmade and granddaughter Kate.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Fredendall Funeral Home 199 Main Street, Altamont on Thursday, January 2, 2013 from 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2013 at 11AM at Altamont Reformed Church, 129 Lincoln Ave., Altamont, NY 12009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Apheresis/Outpatient Transfusion Unit at Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
