Windham NY – Russell C Lancto, age 81, died at Columbia Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 31, 2017. He was born April 3, 1936 in Williamstown, MA to Rose (Blanquart) and Benjamin Lancto. He is survived by Marcia F Lancto (Faroulo), his wife of 57 years. Russell graduated from Williamstown High School. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he began his IBM career working in Kingston NY. Marcia and Russell purchased Rhinebeck Tack & Leather in 1978 and ran the business successfully together for over 20 years. They were frequently seen at equestrian events around the Hudson Valley, often timing the events. Russell was an avid skier, sailor, birdwatcher and golfer. He enjoyed volunteering with guest services at Windham Mountain. As a summer resident of Mystic, CT Russell and Marcia often sailed Fisher Island Sound and the Mystic River. In addition to Marcia, Russell is survived by his brother Donald (Gerry), son Michael (Patti) and son Matthew (Heidi). His three grandchildren Megan, Jack and Michael will miss him dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday Aug 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Windham, NY. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Windham, NY.
