Stephen "Steve" Alan Furman, 61, of East Berne, NY, passed away, Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Daughters of Sarah after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Steve was born July 2, 1953 in Westerlo, NY to Ronald Furman (late) and Patricia Fifield (late).
Steve is survived by his three daughters and two sons who were the light of his life. Stephen Furman Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Shane Furman of Austin, Texas, Deven Furman of South Berne, NY, Kara Czapla of Groton, CT and Kristen Furman of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his ex-wife Kim Furman of East Berne, NY who continued to be a source of love and support for both him and their daughters. He was the oldest of six children including Gordon Furman, Shelly Young, Tammy Stempel, Darren Furman, and Lisa Furman. He is also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Steve graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School and began a long career as an installation foreman for Valley Equipment. He over saw the installation of gasoline tanks at gas stations across the state.
Some of his biggest passions in life were working on cars and watching NASCAR and stock car racing. He loved going to Lebanon Valley Speedway on Saturdays with his father and daughters. You could often find him on the lake in the family boat or waterskiing. He also enjoyed playing pranks on others and loved to laugh.
A viewing will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont, NY, Monday, December 1, 2014. Calling hours will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 7:30pm. Interment will take place on Saturday December 6, 2014 at Westerlo Rural Cemetery at 11:00am.
