Knox- Stephen F. Shedina, 93, died at home, Tuesday April 21, 2009. He was born in the town of Guilderland, educated in one room school house in Guilderland and then in Knox. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army Medic serving in Panama and the Philippines. He worked many years as a farmhand locally, in 1961 he went to work for the NYS Transportation Highway Department, he retired in1980. He was a member of the Knox Reformed Church since 1951, the Hilltown Senior Citizens, and the Gallupville Grange #893 for many years, until it dissolved. He was an inactive member of the American Legion Post #977, as well as one of the original members of the Knox Fire Department. Stephen is survived by his wife Elizabeth J. (Kolb) Shedina; two daughters Lydia (Elmer) Ogaard of Knox and Marie A. Simon of Rockport, TX; Seven grandchildren; Stephen, Michael (Mandi), Erica, Diana, Wesley (Susan), Stephanie (Justin) and Kevin; three great grandchildren Alex, Nathan, and Jonathan; a stepbrother William Przysiecki of Schoharie. He is predeceased by his son Stephen F. Shedina Jr.; sister Mary Cienciva; three brothers William, Joseph and Charlie Shedina; a stepbrother Roman Przysiecki; three stepsisters Mary C. Smith, Helen Sprung and Jules Rener; as well as a son-in-law Lawrence D. Simon. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 pm on May 1, 2009 at the Fredendall Home, Altamont, followed by an interment in Knox Cemetery.
