Altamont-
Stuart M. Dean, 90, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at his residence. Born on May 2, 1924, in Landsdale, PA, he was the son of the late Fay Walter and Hilda Marcy Dean.
Stuart served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He joined his first fire company at the age of 18. He was a 50 year member of the Guilderland Center Fire Company and served as chief several times. He was a member of the Noah Masonic Lodge and a member of the Masons for 65 years. He retired in 1988 from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation as a Senior Hydraulics Engineer.
He is survived by the love of his life Betsy (Bishel) whom he married on July 14, 1951. Together they had five children; Dorothy (Burt) Mintline, Alice (Rich) Ruby, Mark Dean, Paul Dean and John Dean. He is also survived by his brother David (Brenda) Dean; he was the grandfather of 14 and the great grandfather of 24.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stuart’s memory to St. Peter’s Hospice , Guilderland Center Fire Department ,or Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
