T. Patrick Meehan, the Windham town supervisor for 38 years and an influential political presence well beyond town borders, died Sunday while fighting complications resulting from surgery. He was 61.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on January 9, 1948, he graduated in 1966 from Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School. He joined the Hudson Valley Carpenter's Union Local #19 in 1981, later signing on with Frank Rahm Construction. He was the company's project manager, overseeing several projects connected to major institutions including Benedictine Hospital, Kingston Hospital and IBM.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Denise (Crawford); two daughters; Kerry, 32, an elementary school teacher living in Rochester, New York, and Jennifer, 26, a Special Educator residing in Troy, New York; two sisters; Sheila Getman Menchak of Boca Raton, Florida, and Kathleen Colburn of Goldsboro, North Carolina; three nieces, one nephew, five grand nieces and three grand nephews.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 1 p.m. at St. Theresa's Church on Route 23 in Windham.
