Gallupville - Waunetta Van Voris, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2010, Easter Sunday. In 1985, she retired from GE after 42 years as a Key Punch Operator. She enjoyed bowling, canasta, knitting and crocheting. She was an active member of the Gallupville Methodist Church, where she was part of the Ladies Aid Auxiliary, with which she sold raffle tickets for church suppers. She enjoyed traveling cross country, traveling as far as Alaska and two trips to Hawaii. She loved the many family trips to Schroon Lake. She traveled locally with the Berne Seniors. Her favorite thing to do in her later years was going out to eat and trying different restaurants.
She was a devoted family woman. She cherished her family and the close bond they shared for everything. Her family will remember her for her undying love, no matter what. She showed her love for family in so many different ways for so many different reasons. God has shown that He can do anything, with the birth of a grandson on Easter 36 years ago and now calling Waunetta home to her final resting place with Him, also on Easter.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years Martin Van Voris; loving daughter Cheryl (Ronald) Frederick; cherished grandchildren Sean (Tina) Frederick, Stacey (Jason) Moreau, and Kimberly (Todd) Brennan; "precious" great grandchildren Hannah and Spencer, they were her "pride and Joy" and the "apple of her eye ". In her later years these children just lit up her life; two sisters Whanda Shedina and Wila Gilman as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a life time of memories and stories. She touched so many with just her beautiful smile - Remember her that way.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, followed by an interment in Knox Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM.
